Top podcasts for learning Spanish

There are many ways to learn a foreign tongue and listening to a podcast is a great one.

We've reviewed a few of our favourites for learning Spanish.

The Survival Guide podcast, narrated enthusiastically, offers a series of topics, including Word of the Day, Making Small Talk, Giving Compliments and much more. The podcast was quick to download and the site easy to navigate. The über enthusiastic American style narration may require a little getting used to!

This site appreciates that many people who start to learn Spanish quit after just a few lessons. So it launched a series of bite-sized podcasts that build on previous lessons, allowing for ‘rapid learning’. The site is fun too: it features animated characters in real-life situations helping beginners to remember words with entertaining images to associate them with. It is clearly laid out and contains no fewer than 36 lessons. All podcasts are dated 2007, which may dissuade some learners, but we'd urge you not to be put off - how much can the Spanish language change in Nine years?!

This site is vivid, uncluttered and easy-to-use. You’re presented with three learning levels, including language lessons and information about the Spanish culture.
 
For the more intrepid, the South American link reveals native speakers of Spanish American countries – each with accents and dialects. Lessons would be suitable for learners with an intermediate command of the language as the podcasts are spoken in Spanish.

The site presents a daily podcast spoken in Spanish and is perhaps more suited to experienced linguists. It is clear and entices readers with easy cartoon-style icons of leaning Spanish by topic; themes include the kitchen, culture, pictures, books daily scenes and movies.

With your language skills mastered you may find yourself looking at annual travel insurance policies and planning more than one trip! After all, there are many Spanish-speaking countries to visit.
